This week brings a first ever league trip to Essex close for a league fixture with Chard RFC. The Somerset side are struggling at second bottom of the table , but have recently strengthened by boosting their ranks with several South African imports. This alreday paid dividends with a surprise, but nonetheless impressive recent home victory over a much fancied Newent side.Traditionally strong up front, the weather may well influence the outcome of this Saturdays encounter.
Okes returned to winning ways last week with a comprehensive victory over struggling Kingsbridge. This week's challenge is yet again to produce similar form on their travels and to come home with that elusive away win. It wont be easy though against a side battling for survival at this level.
The longer in the tooth amongst Oke fans may recall a Chard visit to the Showground some thirty years ago when they pulled off a surprise away victory , thus ending Okes long unbeaten home record at the time. Okes will be looking to do a job away from home themselves this week, and with no other games on at home, this could be the perfect opportunity for ORFC fans to get in their cars and travel along to give the boys in Maroon and amber your full backing.
The side has now been selected , and changes are at a minimum as the Okes look to build consistency and momentum. Kick off is 2.30 so lets see you there.
..."Come On You Okes!"
